REDISTRICTING AND NEW VOTER CONFIRMATION CARDS
Per the Montana constitution, a legislative committee performs a review every ten years (after a census) of the house and senate districts in the state. This process is referred to as “redistricting.” After this process is completed, the election office looks at the various boundaries within the county’s voting precincts and realigns the voting precincts in an effort to even up the number of voters within the boundaries. This year, Ravalli County added two additional precincts, changed precinct boundaries, and modified polling place locations. We now have a total of 24 precincts and eight polling places.
New voter confirmation cards were recently mailed out to registered voters in Ravalli County. These cards indicate what your current residential address, mailing address, voting precinct, house district, senate district, and polling place location is. If your address is different from what is on the confirmation card, please contact the Election Office at (406) 375-6550.
NOTE: If you are already set up for absentee voting, then you do not have to go to the designated polling place to vote. You will receive your ballots in the mail. If you are not sure if you are signed up for absentee voting, contact the Election Office at (406) 375-6550, and they can assist you in verifying your absentee status. If you are not signed up and you wish to sign up for absentee voting, complete the absentee enrollment form and return it to the Election Office at 215 S 4th Street, Suite C; Hamilton, MT 59840.
