Detention Center
The Ravalli County Adult Detention Center is responsible for the care and custody of persons who are temporarily incarcerated as required by law. Inmates will always be treated in a humane and courteous manner without regard to personal prejudices or feelings. The Detention Center exists solely to protect and maintain the peace and security of the community.

The Detention Center Receptionist works Monday - Friday from 08:00 to 17:00. Lunch is from 12:30 - 1:30. If you have questions about inmates or the Detention Center in general, please call the phone number listed above.
Visitation
Due to limited seating, all visitations, which are on Saturday and Sunday ONLY, are scheduled through the Detention Reception Office, (375-4080), on Thursday or Friday between 9:00-4:30PM.
Bail/Bond Information
Question about bail/bond can be directed to a bondsman. You can find them listed in the white/yellow pages in the phone book.
Commissary
Commissary is passed to the inmates on Thursday. They need to have their commissary sheet turned in by Sunday evening at lock down. The sheets can be requested. Commissary consists of items such as: (this list is not all inclusive and can be changed at any time without notice.)
- Stamped Envelopes, Pencils
- Notebook paper, Writing tablets
- Phone Cards ($5 & $10)
- Personal Hygiene items
- Snacks
Money
The Detention Center will accept money orders, cashier's checks or cash. Cash must be received by the Receptionist or a Detention Officer and receipted. Money Orders and Cashier's Checks must be made payable to the inmate with your name and address on the money order or check. They can be mailed to the inmate or placed in an envelope provided and dropped in the box located in the public lobby.
Incoming mail to the inmate will be refused for the following reasons: (this list is not all inclusive)
- Perfume, Aftershave, Cologne
- Lipstick, Lip Gloss
- Glitter ink
- Any and all foreign substances
- Must include a return address
- Inmate to inmate mail
- Polaroid photos
- Suggestive type material
Mail must be addressed to the inmate c/o Ravalli County Detention Center with your return address.
